Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?
My nephew is a big teddy bear with a great sense of humor. He looks out for those may be picked on. He has always had a tender heart for those who are less fortunate or have special needs. He participated multiple times with Harford County when they gave kids with special needs the opportunity to ride bikes for the day. He currently is volunteering with Sports for Life thru his school for kids with special needs. His dream is to be a special needs or preschool teacher. Andrew is an enthusiastic student who gives his best effort both on the field and off. He works diligently in his classes and is already enrolled in a college course that will help him to achieve his long term goal of becoming a special educator. He has been playing football for 10 years, since he was 8 years old. Sadly he wasn’t able to play either sport in 2020 due to the pandemic. In spring 2021 he tore his rotator cuff in his shoulder during a lacrosse game. He was out for the rest of the season and then football that fall to ensure his shoulder was healed. This is his senior year. During the fourth game of the season he badly sprained his ankle. He is hoping to return for the final two games of the season and his career.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?
Andrew has grown and matured so much over the past two years. Through the uncertainty of COVID, an injury that sidelined him for an entire year, to finally getting back on the field after surgery and therapy he has pushed forward to do his best and has grown into an incredibly kind and caring individual.
Keep up the great work, Andrew!
