Storm Cleanup Prompts Schedule Change For Harford Co. Schools Wednesday

Harford County school officials have adjusted the school schedule for Wednesday due to ongoing storm cleanup efforts and chilly temps.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Officials have canceled school for Wednesday as crews continue to clear roads, parking lots and sidewalks, and a cold weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service through 11 a.m. ET Wednesday.

There will not be any after school or evening activities Wednesday.

"Please help us by clearing your sidewalks and around bus stops to help students return to school safely and as soon as possible," school officials stated.

The decision to close is made by the superintendent of schools as early as possible. If a closure or delay is necessary on the day of an inclement weather event, efforts will be made to distribute that information by 5 a.m. The determination is made after consulting with the state police, the HCPS transportation office, the sheriff’s office, the state and county highway departments and other sources of information in different parts of the county, according to school officials.

Some weather conditions make it advisable to delay the opening time of schools. In such situations, the delayed prekindergarten plan will be in effect for half day programs
