SUV Drives Into Bel Air Barnes and Noble: Police

After vehicle crashed into store, police said the bookstore remained open Tuesday afternoon.

A vehicle crashed into the Bel Air Barnes & Noble Tuesday afternoon.

At 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, a Lexus SUV drove into the front of the bookstore at the Tollgate Marketplace shopping center, according to Detective Sergeant Jim Lockard of the Bel Air Police Department.

The 46-year-old woman behind the wheel was not injured, Lockard told Patch.

He said the cause of the crash was determined to be driver error.

The store remained open Tuesday afternoon, according to Lockard, who said the structural integrity of the building was intact and the damage was isolated to the window.

Fire department response was not requested, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

Gardiner said that an ambulance was called to the scene for evaluation of injuries that were not life-threatening.
