Sweet Eats Cakes Now on Main Street in Bel Air

The bakery on South Main Street sells cupcakes, cake pops and one-of-a-kind creations.

A cake shop opened in downtown Bel Air recently, replacing another type of sweets store.

Sweet Eats Cakes is now selling its custom creations from 116 South Main Street in Bel Air, where All About Cookies used to be.

The cake shop opened in late October, with a grand opening over Halloween weekend, according to the store’s Facebook page. It sells cupcakes, cake pops and cookies in store and designs cakes for special occasions.

For the past five years, Sweet Eats Cakes has been a web-based storefront, according to The Aegis.

That changed on Oct. 3, when Chmielwski reported that she signed a lease in downtown Bel Air to make her longtime dream of having her own bakery a reality. All that was required was a little paint and elbow grease, she said, to make the space ready for business.

Former tenant All About Cookies, which opened in November 2013, closed sometime in September. Owner Kimbery Foster did not respond to an inquiry from Bel Air Patch.

All About Cookies still holds a $40,000 redevelopment loan that it took out from the town of Bel Air last year, The Aegis reported, noting that the town and owner were in discussions about the terms.

Sweet Eats Cakes is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Friday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 116 S. Main Street in Bel Air.
