Teen Charged In Connection To Armed Robbery Of Cash, PS5 Console Sold Online: Sheriff

A teen has been charged in connection to an armed robbery involving a PS5 sold on Facebook Marketplace and the cash paid for it, police say.

EDGEWOOD, MD — A teenager has been charged in an armed robbery that took place when parties met up in Edgewood to complete the sale of a gaming system sold via Facebook Marketplace.

On Jan. 31 around 5:15 p.m., Harford County sheriff's deputies were called to the 2200 block of Hanson Road in Edgewood. The victim told police he had arranged to meet the seller of a Playstation 5 console he found on Facebook Marketplace; the meeting was set for the 2500 block of Hanson Road.

The suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie with white lettering, a black beanie, dark pants and a light pastel pink medical face mask, got into the victim’s vehicle to complete the transaction. During the exchange, the suspect pulled out a matte black "carbon fiber" handgun, pointed it at the victim and fled with the cash, according to the sheriff's office.

After canvasing the area and conducting interviews, a teenage suspect was identified in the case. On Feb. 2, detectives and other officials executed a search and seizure warrant. The teenager was taken into custody and several items, including a PS5 console, a black backpack, a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, a black beanie, a pink medical face mask, a BB gun resembling a Glock and two cellular phones were seized.

The suspect has been charged with armed robbery and first-degree assault.
