Thefts from Vehicles in Bel Air Sparks Investigation

Electronic devices and a loaded handgun were among items stolen from vehicles parked in residential areas, Bel Air Police Department says.

BEL AIR, MD – As authorities investigate multiple thefts from vehicles parked on the streets of Bel Air—including a loaded gun—they are asking residents to note suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

Police said the thefts in the Major’s Choice and Shamrock Park happened sometime between 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Officials ask residents who have surveillance to check for suspicious activities in their neighborhoods from Friday night to Saturday morning that may help identify the suspect(s).

While in most cases electronics were taken, in one vehicle a loaded Glock .40 calibur handgun was stolen, according to police.

The Glock belonged to an employee of a local security company, and his vehicle, like all the others, had been left unlocked, ABC 2 News reported.

According to the Bel Air Police Department, the suspect(s) struck these streets:

  • Grayson Square
  • McCormick Street
  • Shamrock Road
  • Lee Way
  • Hitching Post Drive
