Thomas Bodnar, 56, of Bel Air

Thomas Bodnar, 56, of Bel Air, passed away on July 23, 2015, at Stella Maris in Timonium after a fierce fight against liver cancer. Born in Harmar, Penn., he was the son of Frances “Dolly” Bodnar and the late Albert J. Bodnar. He is survived by his extremely loving and devoted wife of 15 years, Heather Bodnar; and his two children Benjamin Bodnar and Kathryn Bodnar.

An avid soccer player and fan, Tom shared his love of the game and life with his family. Tom was also a proud Penn State University Alum and Phi Kappa Theta fraternity brother. He was a true brother and friend, leaving behind a strong legacy. He certainly did not retreat or surrender. It is game time now, and he has the best viewpoint of all.

Mr. Bodnar is survived by his mother Frances “Dolly” Bodnar; mother-in-law Pat Konzelman; father-in-law Eugene Konzelman; brothers, James Bodnar, Mark Bodnar, Anthony Bodnar, and Robert Bodnar; sisters, Theresa Schreckengost, Elizabeth Bodnar, and Margaret Bodnar. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sisters Barbara Merelli and Marian Bodnar Flowers.

Tom was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and past President of the Phi Kappa Theta Alumni Association.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 27, at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon, 1317 Cokesbury Road.

There will be an additional visitation on Tuesday, July 28, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. before the funeral service at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 141 Hickory Avenue, in Bel Air.
