Tigers Win On Road Ahead Of Saturday Home Opener

The TU football team opened the season with a win at The Citadel.

From Towson University: The No. 11 Towson University football team earned its first victory in dramatic fashion, using a six-play, 75-yard touchdown drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter for a 28-21 comeback win over The Citadel to start the year 1-0. The Tigers led early and The Citadel stormed back to take the lead before TU rallied for the win.

"Week one wins against quality opponents are hard to come­­ by," Tigers coach Rob Ambrose said. "It is a battle of who makes the least amount of mistakes, and in the end, it was us. It shows the ability that we have character: we put together a really good drive at the end of the game."

The Tigers will have their first home game of the season Saturday, hosting North Carolina Central at Johnny Unitas Stadium at 6 p.m.
