Tollgate Road Hazmat Situation: 1 Hospitalized, Roads Reopening, Officials Say
Parts of Tollgate, Macphail roads were closed after an incident that drew hazmat personnel; as of 3:45 p.m., crews were clearing the scene.
BEL AIR, MD - One person was taken to the hospital after a hazmat investigation Monday afternoon off Tollgate Road, officials said.
A contractor in the area had a filter that may have had hazardous material in it, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
The individual had been decontaminated and was being taken to a local hospital for treatment, Gardiner said.

"There is no threat to persons or the environment," he stated.
As of 3:45 p.m., he reported that roads would be reopening shortly.

During the investigation, parts of Tollgate and Macphail roads were shut down.
Tollgate Road had been closed between High Plain Drive and Marketplace Drive, and Macphail Road had been shut down from the Upper Chesapeake emergency room entrance to Tollgate Road, he said.
