Tollgate Road Reopens In Bel Air After Culvert Work Wraps Up
Tollgate Road between West Ring Factory and Plumtree Road in Bel Air reopened Aug. 30 following a major improvement project.

BEL AIR, MD — Tollgate Road between West Ring Factory and Plumtree Road in Bel Air reopened Aug. 30 following a major improvement project. Although the road is open, over the next few weeks the contractor will do some finish work while letting traffic flow through an intermittent one-lane closure during off-peak hours, according to a news release from Harford County.
The project included complete road reconstruction to increase the pavement's life expectancy and to widen the road, making cycling safer on this section of Tollgate, officials said. Sidewalk has also been installed along the east side to connect the nearby communities.
To reduce flooding issues, the old triple cell culvert at the bottom of the hill, which was deteriorated and undersized, has been replaced with a large arch pipe that will significantly increase the capacity for stormwater flow under the road.
