'Tragic': APG Commander on Death of Soldier in Standoff
A soldier who was reportedly suicidal got into confrontation with Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies earlier this week.
Army officials confirmed that it was one of their own who died in a standoff with the Harford County Sheriff's Office on March 2.
Staff Sgt. Travis Boyd Bradley, 36, was shot after three hours of negotiations at his home in the 300 block of Althea Court, according to the sheriff's office.
He was assigned to the U.S. Army Research, Engineering and Development Command, according to a statement from Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG).

"The loss of any soldier, regardless of the situation, is tragic," said Maj. Gen. Bruce T. Crawford, APG senior commander. "Right now our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with the Soldier's family and all those impacted by this event."
Authorities had been called to Bradley's home at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for a call about a suicidal individual who may be armed, who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and who had been drinking, the sheriff's office reported. At approximately 6:30 p.m., after Bradley made a motion that implied he was armed, officials said three deputies fired at him when he came out of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
