Troopers In Bel Air Issue 89 Aggressive Driving Citations
Maryland State Police from the Bel Air barrack have been conducting a patrol that has netted dozens of citations and warnings.

BEL AIR, MD — Troopers from the Bel Air and JFK barracks cited 89 people for aggressive driving last weekend, police said. The officers were out on a special patrol that was focused on areas where there are higher rates of crashes.
"Despite the inclement weather, troopers made 178 total stops," police said in a statement after a weekend filled with rain.
Officers taking part in the aggressive driving patrol near Bel Air issued 89 citations, 85 warnings and six safety equipment repair orders, police said.

To be cited for aggressive driving, state law says that drivers must be seen doing three of the following, according to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration:
- Speeding
- Failing to obey traffic control devices
- Overtaking and passing
- Following too closely
- Passing on the right
- Driving in the emergency lane
- Failing to yield the right of way

- Allow extra time
- Focus on the road instead of distractions like the radio or phone
- Resist the urge to "teach someone a lesson"
- Come to a full stop at red lights
- Obey speed limits
- Allow space between vehicles
Authorities advise drivers to remember that they can't control traffic, but they can control themselves, their driving and their emotions.
