Two Airlifted from Serious Crash on Conowingo Road: Officials

Part of US Route 1 was shut down Wednesday night for investigation.

Two people were airlifted after a crash on US 1/Conowingo Road Wednesday night, according to officials.

Route 1 was shut down at Ruffs Mill Road at approximately 9:44 p.m. for the single-vehicle crash, according to state transportation officials.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company performed a rescue and traveled to the Joppa helipad, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported at 10:14 p.m.

Two people were taken by medevac to regional trauma centers for medical treatment as a result of the crash, which was described as “serious,” according to Rich Gardiner of the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

Gardiner said Route 1 was closed between Gibson Road and the bypass, and Maryland State Police was investigating.
