Two Fire Calls in Hickory Area Draw Emergency Response
A fire alarm at Wawa and blaze at nearby residence kept firefighters busy Friday night, according to Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
When a fire alarm went off at the Hickory Wawa Friday night, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company reports its crew responded to calls for service in one trip.
First, crews investigated a burning/electrical odor at the Wawa by inspecting the HVAC system on the roof, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
As the firefighters were clearing the scene, they were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 2100 block of Conowingo Road, Gardiner said.

There was a small blaze in front of a home on Route 1, according to Gardiner, who said the crews quickly extinguished the fire, which caused no injuries and minimal damage.
Gardiner said the day and evening “continue to be busy,” after crews also handled a crash with injuries near the Wawa Friday afternoon.
