Two Forest Hill Companies Make Inc. 5000 List
Forest Hill is home to two of the fastest growing companies in the U.S., based on a new analysis, along with two others in Harford County.

FOREST HILL, MD — Two companies in Forest Hill were listed among the fastest growing companies in America for 2018. An ecological restoration business and a software company achieved the recognition.
A total of 111 organizations in Maryland made the cut for the Inc. 5000 list, which the business magazine creates annually.
To find the 5000 fastest growing companies, Inc. measured revenue growth from 2014 to 2017. In all, the Inc. 5000 companies earned $206.2 billion in revenue last year.

Ecotone in Forest Hill was No. 2054 on the list of fastest growing companies in the U.S., and it earned $12.8 million in revenue last year, according to Inc.
"We are happy and proud both to be recognized by Inc. and among the economic drivers in Harford County and Maryland," Ecotone's owner Scott McGill said in a statement. "Our team is passionate about what it does, and the Inc. 5000 list is a symbol for how much dedication and effort my colleagues put into delivering great outcomes for our clients."

Ecotone, which was founded in 1998, grew 217 percent in the past three years, according to Inc.
The environmental services company on Industry Lane is in the business of ecological restoration, designing and building ecosystems that address issues such as stream bank erosion, storm water management and wetland conservation.
This was not the first time it made the Inc. 5000 list; it was ranked No. 1834 in 2016.
CadmiumCD in Forest Hill also made the list for 2018. The software company located on Newport Drive ranked No. 2672.
It grew 157 percent in the past three years and earned $6.2 million in revenue last year.
The event software company designs products to help event planners and conference coordinators through offerings like mobile apps, digital recordings and websites.
A couple of other Harford County-based businesses made the Inc. 5000 list:
- L2 Defense in Edgewood was No. 1285
- Pendant Automation in Havre de Grace was No. 2484
Topping the INC 5000 was SwanLeap in Madison, Wisconsin. The software company uses automated programs to determine the best way — the fastest and cheapest — for companies to ship products. It grew 75,661 percent in the past three years, earning $99 million in revenue in 2017.
Coming in second was PopSockets out of Boulder, Colorado, which makes cell phone stands and mounts. And the third fastest growing company was Home Chef based in Chicago, Illinois, which delivers ingredients and meal kits.
