Two Schools in Harford Damaged by Snowstorm

The blizzard that left record snowfall in Harford County takes toll on facilities.

There have been two schools in Harford County whose buildings have been impacted by last weekend’s snowstorm, according to Harford County Public Schools spokeswoman Jillian Lader.

Church Creek Elementary School in Belcamp and North Bend Elementary School in Jarrettsville were evaluated for damage, Lader said.

The damage at Church Creek Elementary was minor, according to Lader, who said the facilities department took care of it.

The damage at North Bend Elementary School may be contained to the media center area of the building, said Lader.

At North Bend Elementary, roof damage is “still being evaluated by a contractor and our insurance carrier,” Lader told Patch Wednesday evening.

If the media center is the only part of the structure affected, the remainder of the building may be available for use next week, she added.

Students have been out of school for the entire week due to the record snowfall that dropped more than 30 inches of snow in parts of Harford County.
