Two Suspects Identified in Edgewood Shooting: Sheriff

One suspect in December shooting was apprehended in Baltimore City, while the other is at large.

EDGEWOOD, MD — One suspect has been arrested in an Edgewood shooting that occurred in late December, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

A second suspect has a warrant out for his arrest but has not been located by investigators, the sheriff’s office reported Friday afternoon.

Ronald Scaife, 22, of the 1600 block of Canton Wood Court, has been taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, including attempted first-degree murder, in the the Dec. 30 shooting in which a man was injured in the 900 block of Topview Drive in Edgewood.

Officials said that evening, four men approached the victim, who was standing with a woman outside a residence, and at least one of the group shot him, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say they identified Scaife and 21-year-old Deonte Copenhaver as suspects, and a district court commissioner issued warrants for their arrest, charging them with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and using a firearm to commit a felony.

The Baltimore Police helped find Scaife, who was taken into custody in Baltimore City Thursday night, the sheriff’s office reported. Scaife was being held at the Harford County Detention Center.

Detectives are still working to find Copenhaver, officials said Friday afternoon.
