Unfounded: Police on Alleged Holdup Near Bel Air High School
Police gave an update on the investigation into suspicious incident that put schools on lockdown last month in Bel Air.

BEL AIR, MD — The recent report that a teenager was held at gunpoint near Bel Air High School was untrue, according to the Bel Air Police Department.
"Based on further information this investigation has been determined to be unfounded," the Bel Air Police Department said in a statement. "This investigation is now closed."
The report was filed around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, near Homestead Street, where a teen told police she had been held at gunpoint near Bel Air High School.

At the time of the report, several schools around Bel Air were placed on lockdown as a precaution. The Bel Air Police Department set up a perimeter around the schools and performed a security check.
Officials declined to comment further on the investigation, citing the fact that it is now closed.

Filing a false police report is a misdemeanor that can carry a fine of up to a $500 fine or up to six months in jail.
