US 1 Rescue In Bel Air Required Ladder, Rope

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company had to use a ladder and ropes to get to a driver on Conowingo Road/US 1, officials said.

BEL AIR, MD — A driver was taken to the hospital after a vehicle went off the road on US 1 at Kalmia Road Friday, according to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company. To get to the individual, firefighters had to use a ladder and rope system because of the terrain.

Crews were called to the incident around 12:08 p.m., according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company. When they arrived, the driver was out of the vehicle, but Gardiner said the firefighters set up a ladder and rope system to get the person to safety due to the terrain.

The driver was taken to a regional trauma center for evaluation after the crash, Gardiner said, and the dog was turned over to animal control. Harford County Animal Control takes loose dogs to the Humane Society of Harford County in Fallston.
