Victim IDed, Suspected Motive Released In Edgewood Homicide

A 34-year-old man shot in Edgewood Sunday has become the first homicide victim of 2019 in Harford County, according to the sheriff's office.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The first homicide of 2019 in Harford County may have been motivated by a robbery attempt, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. The victim died Sunday night after being shot in Edgewood, officials reported. An investigation is underway.

Deputies first responded to the report of shooting in the 700 block of Monticello Court at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, officials said.

Timothy Wayne Youngquist, 34, of Joppa, was found on the ground outside homes in an area where he was working as a food delivery driver, according to investigators.

Law enforcement rendered first aid, and the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company took Youngquist to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased, authorities reported.

Investigators said that three men were spotted running from the crime scene.

Despite a search using K-9 officers and the Baltimore County police helicopter, the scan did not produce any suspects.

Forensics personnel also responded and collected physical evidence from the crime scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Youngquist was shot in "what appears to be an attempted robbery," according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation is ongoing, authorities reported Monday.
