Victim Identified in Fatal Jarrettsville Crash

Officials said icy conditions, speed were possibly factors in car hitting telephone pole.

A man died Sunday morning after his Mercedes hit a telephone pole in Jarrettsville, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathan David Mickey, 37, of Jarrettsville, was the only person in the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office reported.

At approximately 1:21 a.m., Mickey had just turned from West Jarrettsville Road onto northbound Old Federal Hill Road when he lost control of his 1997 Mercedes sedan, the report said. The vehicle hit a telephone pole, officials reported.

Preliminary investigation indicates speed and icy conditions may be factors, according to the report, which said the cause remained under investigation Sunday morning.
