Visit A Stream, Take A Selfie, Win A Prize: Harford Streams

Outdoorsy Harford County residents will have a chance to win some great prizes just by visiting the local streams.

BEL AIR, MD — If you get into Harford County's streams this summer, it might be a rewarding experience in more than one way. The Harford County Department of Public Works’ Office of Watershed Protection and Restoration is inviting people to send in selfies for a prize in Harford Streams Summer Adventure.

All you have to do is use Harford Streams' app to send in selfies from some of the listed Harford stream locations, or substitute county of locations on your own. Here's what you can win:

  • Seven locations: win a Harford Streams Summer Adventure T-shirt
  • Eleven locations: chance to win a guided pontoon boat ride on Otter Point Creek, up to 15 people
  • Fifteen locations: chance at a family membership to Port Discovery

Harford Streams Summer Adventure raises awareness for, and protects, natural resources by encouraging visitors to Harford County’s scenic waterways. “Harford County is known for our many beautiful streams,” County Executive Glassman said. “Harford Streams Summer Adventure helps us raise awareness about the need to safeguard these precious gifts for our next generation.”

Harford County citizens of all ages are welcome to send their selfies in. The game will run from May 25 to Sept. 3.

Anybody, not just county residents, can also win a T-shirt and other prizes in a poker run on Saturday, July 14. Participants will start at Anita C. Leight Estuary Center in Abingdon, visiting five locations, taking selfies and collecting playing cards from each. Players with the top poker hands will win prizes, but everyone will get a T-shirt.
