HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Late Monday night as severe weather crept across the state, the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company's swiftwater rescue team along with the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company's swiftwater rescue team responded to a call for help from two people trapped by floodwaters in their cars in Joppatowne.

Rescuers arrived in the 900 block of Joppa Farm Road to find multiple vehicles where drivers had attempted to drive through floodwaters. Specially trained swift water rescue technicians were called in to rescue the trapped motorists. None of the evacuees were injured, according to the fire companies.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office closed sections of Joppa Farm Road until the waters subsided.
