Weapons Firing Tests Set At Aberdeen Proving Ground Week Of Jan. 3
Daytime and nighttime testing may be heard in the community around Aberdeen Proving Ground the week of Jan. 3, 2023.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD — Daytime and nighttime weapons testing at Aberdeen Proving Ground the week of Jan. 3 may be noticeable to the surrounding community, officials from the military post said.
Daytime testing operations are scheduled for about 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Noise may be heard in some areas off the installation, officials said in a news release.
These operations are not hazardous to residents in surrounding communities, APG officials said, and are integral to ensuring continued readiness of service members.

Research engineers, scientists, technicians and administrators develop military weapons, electronics and equipment at the base.
To mitigate noise from training or testing off the installation, the base monitors the weather and the noise readings continuously throughout each day.

"APG leadership takes noise complaints very seriously and wants to provide as much transparency as possible to the surrounding communities without compromising the security of the missions conducted here," authorities said.
