Weather Call From Harford County Public Schools For Dec. 11

Harford County Public Schools has made a modification to its schedule for Wednesday because of expected slick roads in the morning.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — An expected mix of rain and snow could make Harford County road slick Wednesday morning just in time for the commute to work and the start of school. Because of the weather forecast, the school system will start classes late on Dec. 11.

The school district sent an email blast Tuesday night that said:

"Due to forecasted weather conditions, Harford County Public Schools and Offices will open two hours late tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11, 2019; no morning Pre-K. First-shift custodians are to report on time. Staff will re-evaluate in the morning. Again, Harford County Public Schools and Offices will open two hours late tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11, 2019; no morning Pre-K. First-shift custodians are to report on time. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Harford County from 2 to 8 a.m. Wednesday.

About 1 to 2 inches of snow are expected during the advisory period, according to weather officials.
Drivers should slow down and anticipate slippery roads that may affect their morning commute.

The winter weather advisory applies to these counties:

  • Baltimore County
  • Carroll County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County
  • Montgomery County

Forecasters say rain showers will mix with snow showers after midnight. There may be brief, heavier periods of snow that could lead to some snow accumulating on paved surfaces, but weather officials expect most snow will be on elevated areas.
