HCPS Updates Weather Decision For Wednesday, Jan. 30

Harford County Public Schools reevaluated conditions and made a schedule change for Wednesday.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Harford County Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30, officials announced Wednesday morning. That was an update to a previous decision to open late.

"Due to unsafe travel conditions on side roads throughout the county and weather forecasts, Harford County Public Schools and offices will be CLOSED today, Wednesday, January 30, 2019," according to a statement from Harford County Public Schools.

After-school and evening activities are also canceled.

Officials from Harford County Public Schools provided insight into the decision to close, sharing photos from the transportation department of road conditions throughout the county.

PREVIOUS REPORT (EXPIRED) — Harford County Public Schools will open two hours late on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Both schools and school offices will open on the delayed schedule, authorities said Tuesday night, citing the forecast.

Morning prekindergarten is canceled on Wednesday.

First shift custodians should report on time.

Staff from Harford County Public Schools said they would reevaluate the situation Wednesday morning.

Schools were closed on Tuesday due to the forecast, which called for a wintry mix.

Harford County is under a winter weather advisory until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, due to slippery road conditions.
