Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory for Maryland

Gale warning is also set to take effect on the Chesapeake Bay.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of Maryland Monday afternoon.

The wind advisory is in effect from noon to midnight on Monday, Feb. 2.

The advisory calls for 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph.

It applies to these jurisdictions: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland; the District of Columbia; and parts of Virginia.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles—vans, trucks and SUVs—should be extra cautious, and officials said people should make sure any outdoor furniture is tied down or secured.

Trees and power lines may be damaged across the region, according to the National Weather Service. To report down or sparking wires, contact BGE at 877-778-2222.

In addition to the wind warning, a gale warning will take effect on the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac River Monday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service.
