Weather Service Warns Harford, Baltimore Counties Of Heavy Rain

BREAKING: The National Weather Service advised a strong thunderstorm was over White Marsh Thursday afternoon and was heading east.

A strong thunderstorm will impact southeastern Harford east-central Baltimore counties Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. It issued a short-term forecast after 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, alerting communities in these areas that the storm could bring strong winds and heavy rain.

At 3:04 p.m., weather officials said there was a strong thunderstorm in the White Marsh-Middle River area that was headed east at 25 mph. Heavy rainfall is expected, and wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible, according to the forecast.

Drivers should be aware of standing water and the potential for hydroplaning, officials said. Small streams could overflow their banks.

These locations may be impacted, according to the weather service: Middle River, Aberdeen, Bel Air South, Perry Hall, Rossville, White Marsh, Bowleys Quarters, Riverside, Kingsville, Perryman, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Nottingham, Magnolia, Chase, Bradshaw, Abingdon, Joppa, Martin State Airport and Gunpowder.
