- Harford County Public Library branches
- Harford County Public Schools and offices
- Harford Transit buses
- Harford Waste Disposal Center and the Tollgate Yard trim drop-off facility
- Post offices
- Stock market
Open on Monday, Sept. 7
- Harford Mall
- Retail and convenience stores
- Supermarkets
- Restaurants, bars/taverns
- Gyms/health clubs
- Call ahead before heading to any of the above establishments to confirm they are open. Many retail stores or gyms/health clubs have changed some of their hours.
Trash Pickup: Trash slated for collection Monday will be picked up on Wednesday in the town of Bel Air, and there will be no bulk pickup this week. If Labor Day falls on a yard waste collection day, that yard waste will be picked up on the next week’s scheduled day.

Labor Day was officially recognized by Congress in 1894 as a federal holiday and has been celebrated the first Monday in September to honor all who toil and contribute to the nation’s economy with their work, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

There’s an old-school taboo about not wearing white after Labor Day. So where the heck did it come from? It’s hard to say, but this Time magazine article posits that it had to do with the well-heeled wearing white during their summer vacations and then changing back to dark colors for when they returned to the sooty, dusty city.
