What's Open, Closed In Bel Air, Across Harford County On MLK Jr. Day 2024

Patch has the scoop on what's open and closed, and when trash will be collected this week, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — On Monday, residents and organizations across Harford County will spend time honoring the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr. The federally-observed holiday will impact services in the area.

Local and county government offices will be closed Monday. State offices and the court system also will be closed Jan. 15.

The Harford County Public Library and all branches will be closed Monday.

Harford County Public Schools and offices will be closed Jan. 15.

In Aberdeen, all trash and recycling normally picked up on Monday will be collected Tuesday. Both Monday and Tuesday’s garbage will be picked up on Tuesday. Recycling will remain on the normal five day schedule. Dependable Sanitation will be picking up recyclables on Monday.

In Bel Air, regular household trash removal for town residents who normally have a Monday collection day will have their trash picked up Wednesday. There won't be any bulk collection on Wednesday and no loose leaf or yard waste collection Monday.

Harford County does not perform or manage trash collection services.

The MARC train will operate on the R schedule on all three lines.
