Why is Police Helicopter Hovering Over Joppa?

A helicopter in the Joppa area Wednesday afternoon is conducting a training exercise, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

The Maryland State Police medevac was practicing landing techniques at the fire company’s helipad, Joppa-Magnolia reported at 2:55 p.m.

The helipad is located off MD 152 near Interstate 95.

According to the fire company, the helipad gets its fair share of use from its crews and those nearby that need to meet up with a medevac.

For example, in this crash from January, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company requested use of the helipad after a reportedly head-on collision.
