Wind Advisory Issued For 11 Counties And Baltimore City

Wind gusts may reach 50 mph, and scattered power outages are anticipated, according to the advisory.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of the state on Sunday, Jan. 20. It calls for wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Strong winds will blow down limbs, trees and power lines, and the highest gusts are expected to hit in the afternoon.

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan 20, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered power outages are expected, according to the advisory, which calls for northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with up to 50 mph gusts.

The National Weather Service issues a wind advisory when 45 to 55 mph winds are anticipated, which can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

These are the areas under the wind advisory: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's and St. Mary's counties as well as Baltimore City.
