Wind Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Effect

The National Weather Service advises citizens that strong winds may knock down trees.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday due to damaging winds for the following areas in Maryland:

  • Baltimore City
  • Baltimore County
  • Carroll County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County

Strong thunderstorms were in the Carroll County area around 10:30 a.m., accompanied by 60-mph winds, weather officials said.

Trees and large branches may fall, and roads may become blocked by fallen trees, weather officials advised. Power outages are also possible.

Drivers should not pass under large trees until the storm is no longer a threat. People should remain indoors to protect themselves from trees that may fall, according to weather officials.
