Travel may be difficult Friday night through Saturday morning due to wintry mix and frozen ground, weather officials say.

As the weekend begins, a wintry mix is in the forecast for parts of the region. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for precipitation including freezing rain, snow and sleet.
The winter storm watch is effective for the following areas from midnight to noon on Saturday, Dec. 17:
- Allegany County (central/eastern)
- Baltimore County (northern)
- Caroll County
- Frederick County
- Harford County (northwest)
Less than an inch of snow and sleet are anticipated, and 0.25-inch ice is projected to accumulate during the winter storm watch period.
