Woman in Taxi Shot, Injured: Harford Sheriff

Apparent robbery attempt in Edgewood ended with shooting, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reports; reward for info: $2K.

EDGEWOOD, MD – A woman in a taxi was shot in an apparent robbery attempt in Edgewood Monday evening, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The 42-year-old victim was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, the sheriff's office reported.

At 11:41 p.m. on Monday, March 7, authorities say they responded to the 700 block of Monticello Court, where they found the woman lying in the road next to the taxi; she had been shot multiple times, according to the sheriff's office.

The taxi driver had stopped to pick up a fare at the location when two individuals approached the vehicle, one of whom produced a handgun, the sheriff's office reported. The driver was able to get away, while the female passenger was shot, according to the report. Officials said it appeared the motive was robbery.

Authorities say they are looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting, described as two black men in their late teens or early twenties. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, while the other suspect had a black mask partly covering his face and a light blue hooded jacket, according to the sheriff's office.
