Workshop Friday, Celebration Saturday In Honor Of MLK Jr. In Harford County

Youth can attend a workshop Friday about Martin Luther King Jr., followed by a discussion for all ages. Saturday will be a community event.

On Saturday, The Cultural Center at the Opera House will host a community celebration​ with excerpts from some of King's sermons performed by local youth and traditional gospel selections performed by The Mighty Men of Clarks United Methodist Church.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Join Friday night's youth workshop titled Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and engage in a discussion with author Kevin Shird. The event will be held at The Cultural Center at the Opera House from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Shird, who is an author, producer, national youth advocate and inspirational speaker, will present a youth workshop on self-esteem and self-empowerment. Following the youth workshop, Shird will present a talk for all ages about Martin Luther King Jr., highlighting common misperceptions, sharing little-known information about the leader as well as the women behind the civil rights movement. The talk will be followed by a question-and-answer discussion.

On Saturday, The Cultural Center at the Opera House will host a community celebration with excerpts from some of King's sermons performed by local youth and traditional gospel selections performed by The Mighty Men of Clarks United Methodist Church. This event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
