You Can Afford College Event at Harford Community College on February 4

Looking for ways to make college affordable? Harford Community College is hosting You Can Afford College on Saturday, February 4.

Trying to navigate financial aid? Looking for ways to make college affordable? Harford Community College is hosting You Can Afford College on Saturday, February 4, from 9 AM to 1 PM in Joppa Hall. It is important to arrive before 12:30 PM to ensure that there is adequate time to complete the FAFSA.

No matter which college one chooses, filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step—and HCC can help. Financial Aid specialists will walk participants, step-by-step, through the process of completing the FAFSA. All one needs to do is show up and bring the following items for both students and their parents: FAFSA Worksheet (available at www.fafsa.gov); FSA ID Number (available at www.fafsa.gov); Social Security Numbers; 2015 Federal Income Tax Returns; 2015 W-2 Statements; and 2015 Untaxed Income Reports.

The FAFSA is used by most colleges to determine and/or distribute financial aid. It is recommended that everyone fill out the form even if they don’t believe they are eligible for federal funds, as many colleges require it to distribute private scholarships or academic awards.
