BETHESDA, MD — New details have been released in the case of a school employee accused of recording underage girls inside a changing room at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda.
James Mulhern III, a 43-year-old man from Clarksburg, was arrested and charged last week with sexual abuse of a minor, according to online court records.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Police Department revealed Wednesday that the footage that prompted Mulhern's arrest dates back to 2018, when the girls were participating in a play.
Police said the recordings showed students "in various stages of undress" but that "there was no nudity found."

All four students have since been identified and contacted about the development.
Detectives seized more than 100 computers, cellphones, tablets and other electronic media from the school and from Mulhern's residence for analysis, police said.
Mulhern was identified in the case after two students found a video camera station inside a control booth at the high school's theater. One of the students later forwarded the contents of the memory card to the school principal, who in turn alerted the police.
The investigation is ongoing and police said detectives are reviewing evidence to determine whether additional crimes occurred.
Upon completion of the investigation, additional information will be released to the public, police said.
