A release issued by the department said Wilson came on the department's radar after he was identified as one of the teenagers involved in a fight that broke out at Westfield Montgomery Mall shortly after 12 p.m.

The fight, police said, had involved students from two separate high schools. Police did not identify the second school linked to the incident.

During the altercation, one teenager was seen showing off a handgun. Wilson was identified after Community Engagement Officers were called to the mall.

After officials alerted Whitman Principal Gregory Miller and school security officials to what had happened, Wilson was located at the school and placed in a secure room.

A search of his backpack revealed a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun along with a firearm magazine.

Wilson is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
