BETHESDA, MD — Authorities have arrested and charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in a Bethesda hotel parking lot earlier this month.
Terrance Brainell Williams, 41, of Silver Spring, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 41-year-old Quentin Tyrone Davis, Montgomery County police said in a statement.
According to police, the shooting occurred on May 14 shortly before 11:40 a.m. Thursday in the 5700 block of Marinelli Road.
When officers arrived, they found Davis in the parking lot of the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center with an apparent gunshot wound. First responders attempted to aid Davis, who was a guest at the hotel, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later learned that Davis was walking alone through the parking lot toward the hotel when an unknown suspect confronted him. Shortly after, police said the suspect shot Davis and ran from the area.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage showing a car being driven to the area and parked near the scene. A person later identified as Williams, according to police, was seen getting out of the car and walking toward the hotel. After the shooting, the same person returned to the car and drove away on Rockville Pike.
Detectives determined that Williams and Davis knew each other. According to police, Williams was also connected to the car seen leaving the area, confirming he was in the area at the time of the shooting.
Williams was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held pending a bond hearing.
