MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Officials recovered the body of a teenager who was reported missing after swimming in the Potomac River.
A release issued by the Montgomery County Police Department states the body of the 16-year-old boy was found Friday by officials with the Montgomery County Police Search Management Team and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Swift Water Rescue Team.
The teen had gone missing Thursday near the 10800 block of MacArthur Boulevard, and was reported found on Friday at 9:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not publicly identified the teenager.

The boy's death is the latest incident tied to the Potomac River. Officials have repeatedly urged residents not to swim in the waterway, stating that its depth and strong currents can quickly turn deadly.
Residents looking to keep cool by swimming are directed to the county's pools.
An official cause and manner of death has not yet been determined, pending an autopsy.
