MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Michael Raul Bilecky, the 42-year-old Chevy Chase-based creator behind the "Pillars of the Past" YouTube channel, was recently hit with 20 counts of child porn possession.
Court records show the misdemeanor-grade charges were filed June 24 and are tied to offenses that occurred between Feb. 27 and March 11.
The latest charges were filed in addition to seven counts of second-degree rape without consent that were filed in Montgomery County on April 23.
James Papirmeister, Bilecky's lawyer, told Bethesda Magazine that his client had never possessed the offending materials and was in jail during the dates that the crimes were said to have taken place.
"The allegations are really distorted, really unfair and just completely injurious to Mr. Bilecky’s reputation," he told the outlet, adding that Bilecky's fiancée had access to his electronic devices. "That needs to be forensically evaluated."
A $10,000 bond was set for Bilecky in relation to the child pornography case; however, he remains in custody as a result of the bond ruling on the rape case.
Trial for the child pornography case is scheduled for August, according to court records. A separate trial will take place in October on the rape charges.
Bilecky, whose YouTube channel boasts some 80,000 subscribers, previously pleaded guilty in 2017 to a federal charge of trafficking in circumvention devices. A release issued by the Justice Department at the time states Bilecky "sold computer software at below-market prices."
