BETHESDA, MD — A popular restaurant known for its burgers and shakes is expanding in Maryland, with its newest site opening in Montgomery County.
Shake Shack will officially open Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. in the Bethesda area, kicking off its first day by giving custom tote bags to its "first wave" of customers.
Opening day will also see the eatery donate $1 to the Kid Museum for every sandwich sold to support STEM education programs for Bethesda students.
The brand's newest location will be at 7535 Old Georgetown Road, replacing the former SunTrust Bank branch on the ground floor of the Element 28 apartment building.
The 3,500-square-foot space marks the fourth Shake Shack to open in Montgomery County, and 11th across the Old Line State.
In the county, Shake Shack can be found at Westfield Montgomery Mall, Cabin John Village, and Kentlands Square shopping centers.
The newest location will operate from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
