Planning Board approves Battery Lane apartment redevelopment project in Bethesda (bethesdamagazine.com) — A major redevelopment on Battery Lane in Bethesda will replace an aging 84‑unit garden apartment complex with a 120‑foot building of up to 446 units, including 84 regulated affordable homes. Montgomery County's Planning Board has approved the plans, which add modern amenities, public open space, and a through‑block connection by NIH, though financing and construction timelines are still being worked out.
   

2. Developers of Old Georgetown Grille site in Bethesda expect to begin construction in early 2027 (bethesdamagazine.com) — A 17‑story mixed‑use apartment building is slated to replace the longtime Old Georgetown Grille site at Old Georgetown Road and St. Elmo Avenue in downtown Bethesda, with demolition of the last building expected in early 2027. Developers plan 270 apartments, including 41 moderately priced units, plus ground‑floor retail, parking, and rooftop amenities, with first residents possibly moving in by spring 2029.
   

3. 2026 Chrysalis Awards: Outdoor Living Under $200,000 (qualifiedremodeler.com) — A Bethesda home has earned a regional Chrysalis Award for an outdoor living project that turned an underused backyard into a multi‑level retreat with lounge and dining areas, fireplace, and full outdoor kitchen. The renovation also expanded the main‑level living space, added a composite deck and custom playhouse, and now serves as the family's primary spot for relaxing and entertaining.
   

4. 2026 Chrysalis Awards: Whole House Over $1,000,000 (qualifiedremodeler.com) — A Bethesda home has received the national Chrysalis Award for a whole‑house renovation over $1 million, recognizing a multi‑phase project that upgraded the exterior, added a glassed‑in kitchen, and fully reimagined the basement. The work solved water issues, improved flow and function, and turned previously underused areas into some of the home's most valued entertaining and guest spaces.
