• A first-of-its-kind robotic surgery helps Bethesda breast cancer patient retain sensation postsurgery (wtop.com) — A Bethesda woman with breast cancer chose a new robotic, nipple-sparing mastectomy with nerve reconstruction that helped her keep chest sensation and recover quickly after same-day surgery. Performed at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, the procedure aims to remove cancer while preserving nerves, reducing phantom pain, and improving quality of life, and doctors urge patients to seek second opinions about such options.
• Soldier-turned-UFC fighter Tim Kennedy shot three times as 20 killed or wounded after private military group ambushed (newsbreak.com) — Former UFC fighter and Green Beret Tim Kennedy is recovering in stable condition at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda after being shot three times during an ambush while contracting in Congo. The attack reportedly left around 20 people killed or wounded, and while Kennedy hasn't spoken publicly yet, supporters have flooded his social media with messages of concern and encouragement.
