BETHESDA, MD — Cat lovers, unite! Two lounges aiming to find new homes for adoptable felines will soon be setting up shop in Montgomery County.
Catlands Lounge, which aims to be the county's first cat lounge, will be opening at 375 Main Street in Gaithersburg's Kentlands neighborhood.
The latest timeline released by the shop suggests a targeted opening for December.
Owner Shannon Irlander told The MoCo Show that Catlands Lounge will offer a free-roaming environment where cats can socialize and interact naturally with visitors and potential adopters. Individuals will be able to book 50-minute sessions with the cats.
The second brand coming to Montgomery County is the Paws & Relax Cat Lounge, located at 8227 Woodmont Ave., in Bethesda.
"Whether you're looking to relax with a good book, catch up with friends, work remotely, or simply enjoy the therapeutic company of cats, our lounge offers a cozy escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life," the shop says.
Its opening isn't expected until late winter or spring 2027.
