1 Dead After 2-Vehicle Crash In Bowie: Police

Police say the driver of a Honda Accord ran a stop sign and was hit by a Ford F150 pickup truck.

BOWIE, MD — One person has died after a two-vehicle crash on US 301 in Bowie Wednesday afternoon.

Maryland State Police troopers responded to the southbound lanes of US 301 at Old Central Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. to a reported crash, and found that a Honda Accord and Ford F150 pickup truck had collided, according to an MSP report.

"The preliminary investigation by an accident reconstructionist from the State Police College Park Barrack indicates the driver of the Honda Accord failed to stop at the stop sign at Old Central Ave. and was struck on the driver’s side door by the Ford F150 pickup that was traveling south on Rt. 301," the report states. "The driver of the Honda was trapped inside of the vehicle. After being extricated by rescue personnel, the driver of the Honda was transported to Prince George’s Hospital and later pronounced deceased."

The driver of the pickup truck was sent to Prince George's Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Police shut down a lane of traffic for an extended period of time due to the rescue operation. The investigation is ongoing.
