111 Seniors Displaced After Kitchen Fire Causes Water Damage, Electric Shut Off: Official

More than 100 seniors have been temporarily displaced after a kitchen fire kicked on the building's sprinkler system, causing water damage.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A kitchen fire kicked on the sprinkler system at a senior living facility Tuesday that's located at 1077 Largo Rd. in Largo. The six-story senior independent living facility happens to be home to 111 residents living in 106 units.

Because the building's sprinkler system was activated, the electric system had to be disconnected. The building was deemed temporarily uninhabitable and all 111 residents had to be relocated until electricity can be restored and the water damage cleaned up.
