14-Year-Old Boy Shot After Refusing To Give Group Of Teens His Coat: Hyattsville Police

A 14-year-old boy has been shot after he refused to give a group of teens his jacket. Hyattsville Police are searching for three suspects.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — A 14-year-old boy has been shot when he refused to give up his Moose Knuckle jacket to three suspects who demanded he turn over his coat to them.

The incident happened Jan. 5 around 12:05 p.m. in the 3500 block of Carnaby Street. Hyattsville City Police say that all of the teenagers except the victim ran from the scene. A witness called with the police and stayed with the victim until police officers arrived, according to the police department. The teen was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

"We need the community's help in identifying the suspects involved," Hyattsville Police Chief Jarod Towers said during a news conference. "We are looking for three suspects, all of whom were described as Black male juveniles. One was wearing a puffy, black jacket. Another was wearing a blue jacket and the third was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt."

According to the Moose Knuckle website, its jackets are listed for a minimum of $1,000.
