15-Foot-Tall Flowers, 8-Foot-Tall Robotic Butterfly In Conservatory

The 15,000-square-foot conservatory at MGM National Harbor features oversized creatures and foliage in its new display ushering in spring.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD – A new conservatory display heralding the start of spring can be seen at MGM National Harbor's conservatory now through Sept. 9.

Featuring replicas of the DMV's flowers, foliage and general atmosphere, guests will find floral creations and photo opportunities in the 15,000-square-foot sanctuary filled with vivid florals showcasing the DMV’s energetic spring and summer seasons.

Eight-foot-tall butterflies - including an animatronic one - and blooming flowers cascade across the 85-foot atrium with the natural elements of running water and singing birds. Located in the retail district, visitors can take a photo in front of the spring-themed backdrop adjacent to Specs.

Nearly 2,500 plants were used throughout the display that includes eight 6-foot-tall yellow flowers and eight 8-foot-tall orange flowers. There's a 20-foot-tall bamboo water can with a water feature, four 15-foot-tall purple iris flowers, a six-foot-tall turtle, a 22-foot-tall weeping willow tree, a six-foot-tall water spigot, 10-foot-tall pylon bridge and pylons, seven-foot-tall seagrass, a 10-foot-tall terra cotta pot and 20-foot-tall black-eyed Susan flowers.
